Join OSU Extension Educator, Laura Stanton, and Caesar Creek State Park Naturalist, Erin Shaw, for this new Nature Lovers Book Club series. We will read and discuss books that explore nature-related topics. This will be a casual and informal gathering, so there is no pressure to read the entire book! We look forward to hearing your thoughts and connecting with other nature lovers.

On Wednesday, September 13th, we will discuss Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children From Nature-Deficit Disorder by Richard Louv. (NOTE: This is an updated date. The June date had to be rescheduled due to a family emergency.) In this influential work about the staggering divide between children and the outdoors, Louv directly links the lack of nature in the lives of today's wired generation—he calls it nature-deficit—to some of the most disturbing childhood trends, such as the rises in obesity, attention disorders, and depression. This book has been called "the book that launched an International movement."

“An absolute must-read for parents.” —The Boston Globe

“It rivals Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring.” —The Cincinnati Enquirer

The Book Club will meet from 1- 2 PM at the Caesar Creek Nature Center (4006 Pioneer Village Rd Waynesville, OH 45068). If the weather is nice, we will meet outside.

Please register in advance by emailing Laura at stanton.60@osu.edu or calling the Warren County Extension Office at 513-695-1311.
