Session One "What's up With The Weather"

The concept of impacts of climate change and the environment

This program is open to anyone with an interest in gardening and how climate change is altering the way we will farm and garden in the future.

How often do we find ourselves asking, What's Up With the Weather? Weather is such a vital force in our lives and something that we experience daily. Evidence clearly demonstrates that our weather patterns, or climate, are changing. But the changes we experience depend greatly on where we live. In this presentation, we will discuss the observed changes in temperature and precipitation over recent decades, from a global overview to local changes right here in Ohio. We will highlight the key challenges facing farmers, natural resources managers, and gardeners across the state, from impacts on planting and harvesting decisions to increased stressors including pest, disease, and nutrient management. We will end our discussion on ways we can individually and collectively adapt to and mitigate future expected changes.

Pre-Registration is required. Space is limited. Cost $10.
