Family and Consumer Sciences Educators from OSU Extension are offering a free home food preservation workshop on Tuesday, August 24th at the Countryside YMCA in Lebanon, OH. The workshop is from 7:00 until 8:30 PM and will focus on the basics of canning, freezing, and other methods of home food preservation. Participants will learn basic food safety principles; the basics of water bath and pressure canning; and methods of freezing fruits and vegetables. Participants who have a pressure canner and would like to have the lid inspected and gauged checked for accuracy may bring their lids to the workshop to be tested. There is a $5 fee to test each lid, so please bring cash or check. The instructors are Laura Halladay from OSU Extension in Greene County and Laura Stanton from OSU Extension in Warren County. This workshop is free and open to all community members: you do not have to be a member of the YMCA. To register, please call the Warren County Extension Office at 513-695-1311.
We will meet in the Craft Room on the lower level of the YMCA. Please enter through the north or front entrance of the Countryside YMCA and proceed to the lower-level Craft Room.
