This workshop will be divided into two sections: one focusing on competitive opportunities like the Health & Safety Speaking Contest or County Fair Demonstrations; the other will help you polish your interview skills and represent yourself well in face to face interviews. Come take notes, get in on the fun and take your skills to the next level!

4-H PUBLIC SPEAKING FOR COMPETITIONS

Thinking about Health and Safety Speaking? Demonstrations? Skits?
This workshop is for you!  We will go over some of the rules and talk about what makes a good presentation for each of these events. 4-H'ers are invited to bring a speech they are working on for participants to hear and evaluate.

New this year, we will be demonstrating what a winning 4-H Heainterview skillslth & Safety Skit should be like. 

4-H INTERVIEW SKILLS

Feel that you are missing opportunities due to your interviews?
Have you missed getting a blue ribbon due to your interview? Now is the time to start preparing for this year’s fairs and contests. We will practice interviews and  talk about what you need to know to improve on for both project and animal interviews. This will also include “personal interview” skills for other 4H opportunities like trips, camps, and scholarships.

 

Workshop presenter:  Mrs. Cheri Brinkman

Mrs Brinkman is a Warren County 4-H County Key Advisor, Ohio State Fair 4-H Judge, Warren County Fair 4-H Judge.  She has taught communication and public speaking classes at the University of Cincinnati , Miami University and DeVry University .

Ohio 4-H Watersports Adventure Weekend
The first annual Ohio 4-H Watersports Adventure Weekend at 4-H Camp Piedmont (AKA “the WAW”) will be held May 31-June 2, 2013. The event will take all participants onto the water of the beautiful Piedmont Lake, and provide boating, sportfishing, and conservation skills education to 4-H’ers who will be entering the sixth through ninth grades in the fall(approximate ages 11-14).

The Ohio State University has begun a new fund-raising campaign to support students from all 88 Ohio counties. The "Ohio Scholarship Challenge" seeks to raise $100 million in general undergraduate scholarship funds for Ohio State students at all campuses. This Challenge is also part of the university’s larger effort to raise $500 million in private funds for student financial aid and scholarships. The Ohio Scholarship Challenge honorary co-chairs are Ohio State head football Coach Urban Meyer and men’s basketball Coach Thad Matta.
