Warren County 4-H Advisor Responsibilities:

Last modified 2006-10-13 13:42
  1. Recruit members for the club. It is recommended that clubs have at least 6 members.
  2. Hold 8 or more meetings during the year.
  3. Find a place to meet (could be in your home or in a different member's home every meeting or some other place as you see fit).
  4. Make members aware of times and places of meetings.
  5. If your club is full and there are people who still want to join, refer their names, addresses and phone numbers to the Extension Office.
  6. Plan, with members' participation, the year's program and see that each member gets a copy. Also send a copy to the Extension Office. The program, as much as possible, should include dates, times, places and preferably who is responsible for planned activities.
  7. Return completed 4-H enrollment forms and fees, and project book fees to the Extension Office by April 1.  All project changes must be completed by this time.
  8. Be interested in the growth and development of each member. Focus on developing "blue ribbon" kids instead of just "blue ribbon" projects.
  9. Relay information that you receive from the Extension Office to members, particularly about upcoming events.
  10. Encourage members to attend county activities such as 4-H camp, demonstration contest, safety speaking contest, appropriate educational clinics and other appropriate county activities and events.
  11. Attend advisor education sessions.
  12. Encourage members to exhibit at the fair and see that members get to the right place at the right time for judging. (If you cannot be at the fair, make arrangements for other advisors  or parents to be there with the members.)
  13. Pick up and distribute pins, certificates and other materials to members. The packets will be available at the 4-H volunteer recognition banquet or after the banquet at the Extension Office.
  14. Conduct at least one meeting where health and safety are stressed.
